Boston voters head to the polls today for the November 3 state election, and the city has trained more than 2,000 poll workers to staff them, according to the City of Boston. More than 62,000 Bostonians had already voted early in person or by mail as of Monday.

The essentials

  • Polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, November 3, at 275 precincts across the city.
  • Find your polling place on the City’s polling location map at boston.gov/departments/elections/city-boston-polling-locations, and check your registration with the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
  • Three ballot cards. There are nine ballot questions on three double-sided cards. Feed one card at a time and wait for the tabulator to say “System Ready” before inserting the next.
  • Mail-in ballots cannot be dropped at polling places. Use an official City drop box (boston.gov/ballotdropbox) or bring it to the Election Department at City Hall, Room 241, by 8 p.m. Mailed ballots must be postmarked today and arrive by 5 p.m. Friday, November 6.
  • Accessibility and language help: every polling location is wheelchair accessible and has an AutoMark terminal, and poll workers can connect voters to the City’s free Language Assistance Line. Ballot question translations are available in 16 languages.
  • Questions? Call 311.

Election night

The City says results from early and mail-in ballots counted at City Hall will start to post between 8 and 9 p.m., with combined results uploading from around 10 p.m.
