Five Things We Changed on Twelve Sites This Week, and Why Your Site Should Copy Them

This week we finished rolling a shared navigation layer across the twelve Boston Made sites. Different themes, different hosts, different ages. Here is what changed, and what we’d recommend for any multi-site business.

1. One shell, served from one place

Each site loads a single script that renders the same network bar, footer and call-to-action from one master file. Change the file once and every site updates. If you run more than one site, stop copying footers by hand.

2. Fixed elements get a stacking rule

Our dock was invisible on one site because the theme’s main wrapper had a z-index of 9999. Decide the order once: content, then header, then docks, then notifications, then dialogs. Write the numbers down.

3. Notifications never cover navigation

Cookie prompts and popups now measure the dock and sit above it. A banner that covers your primary navigation is a banner people close without reading.

4. Mobile menus are lists, not posters

We replaced full-bleed photo tiles with compact rows: a small thumbnail, a readable label, a chevron. Photos in a menu should help you recognize a destination, not compete with its name.

5. One search for the whole network

The flagship homepage now searches stories from all twelve sites and offers direct actions. If a visitor cannot find your other brands from your main site, they do not exist to that visitor.

The test we use

Open every site on a phone, as a stranger. Can you tell they belong together in two seconds? Can you get from any one to any other in one tap? If not, you have a portfolio, not a network.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WORCESTER, Mass., Oct. 24, 2026 — Boston Made, Inc. today announced the consolidation of roughly twenty brands and domains into twelve focused properties it calls The 12 Tribes of Boston Made. Each tribe has a clear reason to exist, a customer it serves and a way to earn on its own, while all twelve share one technology stack, one content engine and one membership.

The twelve

The family consists of Kingswell Strategic Ventures, the holding company that sets long-term strategy; Boston Made, the flagship for membership, the store and the family’s front door; the Boston Made, Inc. Newsroom at bostonmadeinc.com, the company’s news desk; Boston Made Reader, a free reading app for long reads, wires and books; BOSSTOX, an AI-infrastructure intelligence newsroom; PUPWEAR, premium dog apparel and gear; Fenway Web, the web design and development studio; Spot Check, a parking marketplace; GrandStrand.app, a local guide to South Carolina’s Grand Strand; Lumo, a precious-metals marketplace and price service; Paxton-Digital, enterprise technology for IP and brand protection; and SCOUT, an AI-powered IP research tool. Beacon Federal Partners, an independent government-contracting firm, is an affiliate rather than a tribe.

One membership

One Boston Made+ membership, $20 a month or $199 a year, opens perks across the family, including members-only stories on the Reader, 20% off the BOSSTOX Monitor plan, 15% off the PUPWEAR store, early access to new Paxton-Digital and SCOUT tools, Strand+ on GrandStrand.app, Spot Check Premium, and 10% off Fenway Web builds and care for Boston Made+ Business members.

One newsroom

Every tribe now carries its own news section, and all of it feeds the Boston Made Reader at reader.bostonmade.com, so a story published anywhere in the family can be read in one place.

The full list, with what each tribe does and how it earns, is at bostonmade.com/brands.

Across the Ecosystem: A Relaunched Fenway Web, a Rebuilt Lumo, and a Newsroom Reorganized Around the Markets

The week of October 19 across the Boston Made family: a rotating front door on bostonmade.com, Fenway Web relaunched, Lumo rebuilt as a gold exchange, BOSSTOX on the turn in the AI trade, and a Newsroom reorganized around markets.

BOSTON — The week of October 19 was a building week across the Boston Made family of companies: two sites relaunched on new foundations, the network’s homepage got a proper front door for its stories, and the Newsroom itself was reorganized around the two things readers come here for most — the markets and the companies in this family. Here is what changed, tribe by tribe.

Boston Made, Inc. — a front door that moves

The flagship homepage at bostonmade.com now opens with a rotating showcase of the newest stories from across the network — currently drawing on more than 830 stories from 15 sources — above the searchable “Across the network” feed. The header was tightened so the six primary sections (Discover, Read, Shop, Play, Community, Work with us) sit on one line at every laptop width, and the 12 Tribes directory picked up a fresh Fenway Web card.

Fenway Web — relaunched on a new build

Fenway Web, the family’s web design, development and SEO studio, is live on a rebuilt WordPress foundation with a simpler promise on its front page: “Your business. A better website.” The studio’s model is proposal-first — agree the scope and price, then a deposit — with care plans for ongoing hosting, updates and edits. Its portfolio runs from churches and contractors to realtors and musicians, and all of them now sit in the Tribes directory under “Fenway Web — client work.”

Lumo — rebuilt as a two-sided gold exchange

With gold holding above $4,000 an ounce, Lumo.gold, a Kingswell Strategic Ventures property, relaunched as a two-sided exchange: consumers can sell or buy, dealers post buy offers and inventory, and a live gold price with a melt calculator sits at the top of the site. Introductions are free for sellers; dealers list free during launch. The directory is being seeded with real local cash-for-gold businesses in Greater Boston, the Grand Strand of South Carolina, and northwest Georgia.

BOSSTOX — the week the AI trade turned

BOSSTOX covers the infrastructure behind AI — power, cooling, chips, networking, capital — and this was the first week the market priced in a slower build-out rather than a faster one. Tesla trimmed its capital-spending outlook; Meta held its steady; the suppliers that ride every new data center sold off hardest. The desk’s view: the thesis is intact, but the next phase of coverage is backlog and order books, not sentiment.

The Newsroom — reorganized around markets and the family

This site’s homepage now leads with Markets & Economy and a Markets Wire of Associated Press headlines that link straight to the original reporting, followed by Across the Ecosystem, Technology and Boston Sports. Sponsor placements now read like the stories around them — labeled “Sponsored,” with the partner’s name and a one-line description — instead of banners. And the desk you’re reading is new: network news and wire-based reporting now carries the Ecosystem Intelligence Desk byline.

Still running: Where’s Taylor?

The network-wide “Where’s Taylor?” case continues through Exhibit C on Friday, November 13. The Newsroom holds the headline; ATLAS has the map; BOSSTOX the signal; Fenway Web the hidden door; Boston Made Pets the suspiciously innocent dog. Follow it from the Boston Made homepage.

What’s next

A week of Boston and New England coverage is rolling out across every tribe — markets here, business and culture on Boston Made, AI infrastructure on BOSSTOX, gold on Lumo, dogs on Pets and Pupwear, parking on Spot Check, the Grand Strand on GrandStrand.app — each story researched from Associated Press and local reporting and written for that site’s readers.
