What’s on the shelves

• Complete books: full public-domain texts with their original covers, in a clean book-style reading view.
• Bible and religious studies: free study material for personal reading or group study.
• Inclusion studies: readable guides on accessibility and inclusion, such as an ADA overview, “Accessibility 101,” and how to volunteer with Special Olympics as a Unified Partner.
• History: the long-running Boston history series and reading notes on historical works.

Why it belongs in a business story

A free library doesn’t show up on a revenue line. It builds trust, though, and it keeps readers returning daily, and those are the things the rest of the ecosystem depends on. Free reading, supported by advertising, means nobody gets turned away.

The rules

• Free to play. You play with play coins. There’s no real money, no cash prizes and nothing to buy to win. It’s entertainment, not gambling.
• Story-led. The machines are themed around the ecosystem’s brands and storylines, so playing doubles as a tour of what Boston Made builds.
• Half pets and learning. Half the arcade focuses on pets and education, with reels and bonus rounds built around dog breeds, Boston history and quick facts.
• Half open, half members. Half the machines are open to everyone. The rest unlock with MasterPass.

Why an arcade?

People come back to places that are fun. A game that teaches you a dog breed or a piece of Boston history, and points you to the Reader for the full story, keeps people moving through the ecosystem without any hard sell.

Boston Made has always done more than marketing. Its M&A and restructuring work sits under Kingswell Strategic Ventures, LLC. This chapter covers what Kingswell is building next: a corporate restructuring processor.

What it will do

The processor is planned as a guided workspace for four kinds of work:

• Entity restructuring: mapping a group of companies, cleaning up ownership, and deciding what to merge, spin out or wind down.
• Operational turnaround: finding the cash leaks, setting a 13-week cash view and a short list of fixes.
• Debt and creditors: organizing obligations, prioritizing conversations and preparing workout proposals.
• M&A preparation: getting books, contracts and a data room ready before a buyer or investor asks.

There will be a free demo that goes far enough to show you where you stand. Full use unlocks with MasterPass (Boston Made+), the same membership described in Chapter 3.

BOSSTOX: intelligence, not hype

BOSSTOX tracks markets and companies with dated, sourced records. That covers the AI-infrastructure watch behind the Picks & Shovels storyline: the compute, cooling, power and networking companies doing the physical work of the AI buildout. Its learning hub, info.bosstox.com, teaches the basics in plain English.

Scout: healthcare intelligence

Paxton-Digital’s newest focus is healthcare. Scout is a healthcare-intelligence search that helps people and organizations find and make sense of healthcare information quickly, using the same source-first approach as BOSSTOX.

Combining the technology

The thread connecting the brands is reuse. The same pieces (sourced data, AI search, publishing, membership) are assembled differently for each audience: investors on BOSSTOX, patients and providers on Scout, readers on the Reader, small businesses on Fenway Web.

What’s in the box

Build Week

To go with this chapter, the Reader is running Build Week, a five-part storyline that walks you through building a small-business website, from picking a domain to launch day. Find it under Storylines.

Why it matters

Every site built on Fenway Web is another door into the ecosystem. When those sites publish news, the Reader can syndicate it. A small business gets an audience, and the network gets content.

The goal is simple: everyone who joins the ecosystem should be able to earn something from it.

The membership

Boston Made+, also called MasterPass, is the paid membership that unlocks the premium side of the ecosystem: members-only content, the locked half of the Arcade, and member tools as they launch. It costs $20 a month or $120 a year, renews automatically and is billed securely through Stripe. Details are at app.bostonmade.com/membership.

The referral program

Boston Made chose a design meant to stay clean:

• Free to join as a referrer.
• 20% share of the subscription revenue Boston Made actually collects from people you refer directly. Taxes, refunds and chargebacks are excluded.
• For 12 months per referred member.
• Direct referrals only. There are no recruitment tiers and no earning from your referrals’ referrals. It is not a multi-level scheme.

Payouts are not active yet. The program structure is set, and payouts will switch on when the program fully launches. Ad and sponsorship revenue sharing may come later.

Why this chapter matters

Media companies usually treat readers as an audience to sell. Boston Made wants members to be partners with a stake in its growth. It is a small mechanism, and the rest of this storyline builds on it.

When a brand under the Boston Made umbrella publishes something, whether it’s a company announcement, a pet-care guide, a parking-industry update, a client success story or a Picks & Shovels feature, it appears on reader.bostonmade.com on its own. Nobody has to copy and paste anything.

How it works

• It syncs. The Reader checks every site in the network roughly every hour, pulls new stories, removes duplicates and sorts them into sections such as Company News, Technology & AI, Money & Finance, Real Estate & Home, Pets, Community and Guides.
• It’s free. No login, no paywall to browse. The Reader calls itself “the one Boston Made address that will never ask you for payment.”
• It reads like a book. It has a clean reading view, a free library of complete books, and a music video player that keeps playing while you read.

Storylines

This chapter launches something new on the Reader: Storylines. These are serialized arcs that run across several brands and are meant to be read in order:

• Picks & Shovels — the companies selling the equipment behind the AI boom (start here).
• Road to the Rocketship — this series.
• Grand Strand Season — a running guide to Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand from GrandStrand.app.

Most companies have a front door. Boston Made has a hallway lined with them, and every one leads back to the same house.

Boston Made, Inc. started as a Boston marketing agency that also handles M&A and restructuring work. It has grown into an ecosystem: a set of brands and products that share an audience, a design language and a business model. This storyline follows that build. Here is the map.

The doors

• Boston Made Reader — the front page. It pulls in every story from every brand automatically, and it’s free with no login (Chapter 2).
• Boston Made App — membership, MasterPass and the member dashboard (Chapter 3).
• Fenway Web — a self-serve website builder, with free tutorials at info.fenwayweb.com (Chapter 4).
• Paxton-Digital and BOSSTOX — the technology underneath, including the Scout healthcare-intelligence search and the BOSSTOX market-intelligence platform (Chapter 5).
• Kingswell Strategic Ventures — corporate strategy and restructuring (Chapter 6).

Why build it this way?

Every product feeds the others. A story on the Reader sends readers to a product page. A parking search on Spot Check turns up a local business on GrandStrand.app. A small business that builds its site on Fenway Web gets its news syndicated into the Reader. The soundtrack ties it together: the Boston Made music video player keeps playing as visitors move between pages.

The rocketship part

The aim is to build a company that runs like software: measurable, compounding and worth investing in. Boston Made has said it is planning toward a public listing. That’s a long road, and this storyline will cover it honestly, including the chapters that aren’t finished yet.
