Shots Fired Near Trump at Florida Golf Course; Former President Unharmed

The U.S. Secret Service has been mobilized in response to a shooting incident occurring close to former President Donald Trump while he was present at his West Palm Beach, Florida, golf course on Sunday afternoon, as confirmed by a spokesman for the agency.

Steven Cheung, director of communications for the Trump campaign, assured the public with a statement saying, “Following the shooting incident near him, President Trump remains unharmed.”

The gunfire was reported slightly before 2 p.m. on Sunday, with Secret Service agents and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office personnel rushing to the scene, according to the Secret Service.

This incident is reported around two months following an event where the Republican presidential nominee was hit by gunfire at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Teri Barbera, representing the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, disclosed that a “person of interest” has been detained for questioning.

“The former President is secure. More information will be shared in due course,” stated Secret Service representative Anthony Guglielmi.

The incident has reached the national level, with President Biden and Vice President Harris being briefed on the situation at the Trump International golf course where Trump was playing golf, as per official reports.

Both expressed their relief upon learning that Trump was not harmed and they will continue to receive updates as the situation develops, according to their offices. Attorney General Merrick Garland has also been informed and is keeping an eye on events as they unfold.

Donald Trump Jr. shared on social media that an AK-47 was found hidden “in the bushes” at the West Palm Beach golf location, indicating the seriousness of the threat.
